Walnut was not the wood of choice for construction, ever. The primary use of walnut was, is and always has been fine furniture. So when we do come across authentic reclaimed walnut it is a bit of a needle in a haystack. Apply an oil based finish and the depth and beauty of this wood come out instantly. This floor is truly a showstopper.

Description

Black Walnut is a true beauty. Deep, rich hues of browns and purples reside within this floor. But this beauty is extremely elusive. Finding truly reclaimed walnut is rare. We can only sell these floors when we can find them.

Much like its elusive counterpart reclaimed walnut antique cherry is not an easy find. Once again we have a wood that is truly the purview of fine furniture making and so rarely appears in building materials. Cherry is a very UV sensitive wood so antique cherry has deepened to perhaps the richest, most amber orange within the North American hardwoods.

Description

A favorite furniture wood for generations, American Cherry was rarely used in old buildings and is the hardest to find. Its color ranges from warm tan to pale pink to deep red with darker streaks in some boards. Think of it as fine furniture for the floor.

So, what are these Surface Textures?

Enhance your new wood floor to give it a more rustic character and time worn appeal.
Hand planing, brushing, and circle sawing are great techniques for making a new wood floor look old.
These treatments are suited to some of our reclaimed floors, too.

Surface Textures

Circle Sawn

This treatment gives the planks a very rustic, "rough sawn" look and is available in two textures: Circle Sawn - with all saw marks intact, and Skip Sawn - leaving only partial saw marks visible. Boards are then brush burnished to smooth the edges and soften the effect. Explore our floors

Hand Planed

Hand Planing is a technique that gives your plank floor an old world appearance. We offer custom hand planing in a highly textured, wave-planed look to a light, even surfacing that leaves the boards looking crisp and clean. Explore our floors

Brush Distressed

Just as natural weathering removes the softer wood grain, creating a furrowed surface in old boards, our brushing technique adds an aged and “weathered” visual depth to the surface of your plank floor. The occasional scratches and dents of daily living only add to the patina of a brush distressed floor. Explore our floors

How about my finishing options?

A great finish will bring out the wood's natural beauty and make your floor come alive!
We offer factory pre-finishing as well as hand applied oil finishes.

Monocoat Natural Oil Finish

Thinking of doing your own finishing? Rubio Monocoat is a really good plant-based, VOC free, non-toxic oil finish.

Available in clear and over 30 different colors, it can be applied in a single coating. All Monocoat finishes are easily maintained and extraordinarily durable, too.

The subtle sheen reveals and complements the natural grain and patina of the your floor.

Why choose The Woods Company?

Because we're the best in the business. No brag, just fact!
For 30 years we've been known for honesty, integrity, and a real commitment to our customer
...not to mention great wood flooring.

Go ahead and compare us...We’re that confident.

  • 1

30 YEARS EXPERIENCE - The antique lumber industry got it's start in the 1970's with the Historic Preservation movement. The Woods Company began as a salvager of authentic materials for building restorations.
Over the years we've grown into the most reputable manufacturer of reclaimed wood flooring in the country. We're proud to say we were there at the beginning - still independently owned, supplying American made products!

  • 2

EXCEPTIONAL CUSTOMER SERVICE - Our friendly, knowledgeable staff will help you find the right product for your needs and make sure your order is processed correctly.
Every phone call is answered by a real person! We know you're busy too, so we try to address all your questions promptly.

  • 3

THE WIDEST PRODUCT LINE and LARGEST FACILITY - We maintain an extensive lumber inventory in a variety of species and grades. Our 90,000 square foot building houses the showroom, offices, and our Artifactory Gallery, in addition to the flooring mill, custom shop, and sample department. We maintain another warehouse for inventory and distribution - in total about 5 acres under roof!

  • 4

ARCHITECTURAL ACCENTS COMPLETE YOUR INTERIOR - The Woods Company is one of the only "full service" reclaimed lumber mills. The Custom Shop produces stair parts, moldings, beams, mantles, floor vents, table tops, furniture products - most anything your project might require. All our reclaimed wood is LEED certified and ideal for sustainable building projects.

  • 5

KILN DRYING IS A MUST - Although reclaimed wood is old and seasoned, it's still not dry enough for interior use. We dry all of our wood in our own kiln to a uniform, standard 6-9% moisture content. Kiln drying conditions and stabilizes the wood, ensuring a superior floor for years to come. Many suppliers do not offer this critical process.

  • 6

STRICT GRADING STANDARDS - There are no established grade rules or trade associations in the reclaimed wood industry. As a customer, you have to trust your supplier to accurately produce the floor you've ordered. With many companies selling reclaimed wood today, that can be a real act of faith! The Woods Company's grading specifications were developed over the many years we've been in manufacturing, so we guarantee the consistent grade and quality of your floor.

  • 7

PRECISION MILLWORK - All planks are hand selected for the best face, pre-surfaced, laser-ripped, end-trimmed and milled with an offset tongue & groove for a thicker wear surface. Our quality control process assures that we ship 100% usable material, saving you time and money on installation.

  • 8

CAREFUL PACKAGING PROTECTS YOUR INVESTMENT - Your flooring is strapped into easy to handle packs, then neatly stacked and banded securely to a skid. This protects your order in transit and simplifies unloading and job-site handling.

  • 9

DELIVERY IS EASY AND INEXPENSIVE - Because of our large freight volume, we have lower delivery charges than most mills. We track all shipments to make sure your order arrives safely and on time.

  • 10

OUR REPUTATION IS ON YOUR FLOOR! - We sincerely want you to be a satisfied customer. You're invited to visit us and decide for yourself. Call to make an appointment for a tour!
